Writing II: WRITING ABOUT FEAR*PLEASE CHECK THE AMENDED CALENDAR FOR THE LATEST ON THE READINGS*![]() In this course we will be writing and reading on the topic of fear. Fear is something we think about a lot in this society, and it affects us in many ways. We will be reading and watching a wide variety of texts about these ideas of fear, some of which are very clear to us, and some of which are more obscure. The course is divided into four main modules, each about a different 'explanation' for the root causes of fear for us as a society: fear from horror, fear from (and of) madness, fear during wartime experiences, and paranoia. We will consider poetry, film, a novella, a play, some short stories, and a graphic novel. Assessment will be by four papers, and a presentation. This Wiki will be the central point of connection for us all as a class. It will be the place where we make comments about our thinking on the readings, extend the conversation past the classroom, present polished ideas of our own, and refer to the the ideas of others to help us develop our writing. It is also the place where a number of the course readings can be downloaded. The Syllabus and Calendar of readings are available here, both to view (HERE), or to download (along with other readings) (HERE).
